Kalee Burrows (she/her/hers) is a theatre artist, yoga teacher, writer, and educator residing in Boston, MA.  She teaches and works with young people, adults, and older generations in schools, community centers, and theatre spaces across the globe.  These participating organizations and artists include Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Actors’ Shakespeare Project, Boston Lyric Opera, Shakespeare & Company's Founding Artistic Director Tina Packer, Arlekin Players Theatre, Ko Festival, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community School, Voices Boston, We are London at Ovalhouse, Shanti Bhavan's Children's Project, Kingswood Children’s Summer Theatre, Stonehill College, and The Hanover Theatre Conservatory for Performing Arts.  

As a performer, Kalee specializes in physical theatre and devising.  In 2011 and 2012, she was an Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Nominee at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF).  Her original devised feminist play The Empowerment Project was also performed at KCACTF and Stonehill College in 2013.  While on production and stage management teams, Kalee has work alongside award-winning theatre artists, companies, and productions, including Arlekin Players Theatre’s The Stone (2020 Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Production, Small or Fringe Theater).  In her writing, Kalee explores feminism, intersectionality, queerhood, mental health, love, and loss.  Her play Oreos & Sex Noises was directed and performed at the Culture Park Theatre’s 11th Annual Short Plays Marathon and her work has been featured on Broadband’s virtual artist series All Together Now. She continues to write and perform her spoken word poetry at local events.

Kalee is a skilled practitioner in devised theatre, yoga, youth arts education, creative writing, directing, and performance.  She is officially recognized by the City of Boston as a Certified Artist, and she holds a MA in Applied Theatre: Drama in Educational, Community and Social Contexts from Goldsmiths, University of London, as well as a BA in Theatre Arts and Performance Studies from Stonehill College. Kalee is certified by Yoga Alliance as a RYT 200 and is trained in Reiki Level 1. She advocates for accessibility and body diversity in yoga and uses restorative yoga to help folks to stay grounded and explore creative movement. Currently, she teaches improvisation, storytelling, and creative drama classes at The Hanover Theatre Conservatory for Performing Arts. Kalee continues to collaborate with artists, drink copious amounts of coffee, and create meaningful work through interdisciplinary arts and performance.
